Meet Our Team
Dr. Laura Godwin
was born and raised in Fayetteville, NC. In 2007, she received her undergraduate degree in Microbiology at NC State University where she was Valedictorian of her class. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011 where she finished top 5% in her class. And make no mistake about it, she is a Tarheel at heart.
Dr. Godwin has always had a desire to be a "hometown" dentist - to be the person you're talking about when you say "I've been going to her for as long as I can remember." She is dedicated to optimizing your oral health, while making you feel comfortable and at home here. She won't stop until you're satisfied!
She also loves to give back to the community, volunteering at Missions of Mercy clinics here in North Carolina, and even spent 6 weeks in Ghana, Africa helping with dental aid. Dr. Godwin loves fitness, trying new restaurants, and going to as many concerts as she can!
Ashlee Gay, RDH
Ashlee, aka Doodle, is Dr. Godwin's lead hygienist, but is most notable for the amount of cheese doodles she consumed as a child. She is also from Wilson but now resides in Pikeville, North Carolina. She too attended Wayne Community College where she obtained her associates in applied science of dental hygiene, her associates in general education, as well as her dental assisting diploma! She is truly a jack of all trades!
When she is not practicing dental hygiene, she is spending time with her husband Austin and their many "fur" children. They currently have two dogs, Bella and Kujo, a cat, Cig, a cow, Butter, five chickens and two ducks! They love their animals and are always expanding their little "farm."
Donna Brock, Office Administrator
Donna runs the business side of 7th Street! She was born and raised in Fayetteville, NC, growing up as an army brat. She is truly a "Carolina Girl" and not could not imagine living anywhere else! She has been in dentistry for 34 years, the first 26 as a dental assistant and the last 8 in an office administrative role. She absolutely loves the dental field and could not picture herself doing anything else until she retires.
For Donna, life began after 50! She recently became engaged to her wonderful fiancé Mike. They spend their free time hanging with family and friends, and in the summer going camping and riding motorcycles.
Sheila Hawley, DAII
Sheila is Dr. Godwin's lead assistant and is from Wilson, North Carolina, although she has lived in Princeton for 21 years. She received her diploma of dental assisting from Wayne Community College in 1991 and has worked in various fields of dentistry throughout her career. Sheila and her husband Wayne have two amazing children - James, a physical education teacher at Charles B Aycock High School and Chelsea, a sophomore at Barton College and a member of the women's soccer team!
Sheila enjoys her work as a dental assistant and considers herself blessed to be a part of Dr. Godwin's team. Sheila says that Dr. Godwin has renewed her love for dentistry and gives their office the confidence to provide the best care possible.
Susan Smith, Hygienist
Susan was born in Buffalo, NY but moved to Smithfield at the young age of 12. Towards the end of her high school career, her father suggested she go to school to become a hygienist and he hit the nail on the head! Thirty six years later, Susan is still passionate about her career in the dental field.
Patients are always raving about her gentle hands and how wonderful their teeth feel when she's done. She and her husband Johnny have two daughters, Kristin and Emily, and a beautiful little granddaughter Anja. And let's not forget her two pups, Raleigh and Maggie!
Our staff is expertly trained, skilled and certified to provide the most advanced and painless procedures possible. Every member of our team fulfills his or her responsibility for continuing their education by conventions, seminars, and lectures.
